Huichol Shamanic Vision Cards

These images reflect the magical world of spirits and supernatural forces that govern the Huichol universe. The entities appear to the Shamans in ceremonies when the spiritural use of the visionary peyote cactus is undertaken. During the peyote experience, the Shamans are able to access higher states of awareness and community with the spiritual world. The inhabitants of this invisible landscape provide shamanic powers and reveal mystical information that the shamans use for healing, lucid dreaming, rainmaking and more. Often times this information is later symbolically recorded by Huichol artis using a technique known as "yarn painting" a unique art form that captures the essence of native Huichol cosmology.

The Shamanic Vision Cards are made at the Huichol Center by photographing our collection of yarn paintings and then hand decorating each photo adding beauty and a personal touch. Each 5x7 card is made of high quality stationary, is blank on the back and includes an envelope as well as a separate explanation of the symbol in both English and Spanish. In addition to being used as greeting cards, these detailed works of art may also be mounted or framed to create uniquely spiritual additions to our every day lives.

All purchases support the non-profit programs of the Huichol Center for Cultural Survival and the Traditional Arts.
